Designed for hunting, specifically for large bears, and for Handgun Metallic Silhouette competition with magnum calibers, this 300 grain #8630 Jacketed Soft Point bullet was introduced in 1989. Its construction ensures deep penetration on the largest game due to a heavy jacket and extremely hard 6% antimony core. This is one of the heaviest bullets Sierra produces and should be used in a 44 Magnum, 445 Super Mag, or a similar cartridge. It has an established reputation in the game fields of North America and is considered to be the bullet for hunting dangerous game with a handgun. It is not, however, recommended for deer-size game because of its hardness. Because this bullet has a cannelure and can be roll-crimped, it may be loaded in cartridges and used in modern rifles with tubular magazines.
When seated to the cannelure, this bullet will have an overall length that does not feed well in lever action rifles. Recommended OAL of 1.735″ in 44 Magnum.

About the Manufacturer
For over 60 years Sierra Bullets in Sedalia Missouri has been dedicated to the manufacture of the most accurate bullets in the world. This commitment to performance has established a "Tradition of Precision" for which Sierra is known throughout the world.
Some of the most important quality control standards used are:
1. Weight Control of +/- 0.3 grain.
2. Jacket concentricity of 00" to 03" on target bullets and 00" to 06" on hunting bullets.
3. 100% final visual inspection for external defects. 4. Roving quality control inspectors perform other dimensional checks at the cupping, draw, trim and bullet assembly operations.
In order to accomplish accuracy firing tests, Sierra utilizes our 300- meter underground testing range daily. 200-yard accuracy evaluations are conducted on rifle bullets using a precision unrestricted machine rest. They also conduct daily 50-yard accuracy evaluations on our pistol bullets using a specially designed machine rest. If a group does not meet their high expectations, the production run is rejected.
