The 6.5mm Creedmoor was introduced by Hornady in 2007. It is a modification of a .30 TC cartridge which was originally based on the 300 Savage cartridge. The Creedmoor was designed for rifle target shooting specifically. It has also achieving success in hunting. Due to its relatively short length of 2.825" the 6.5mm Creedmoor can be chambered in short-action bolt rifles and AR-10 style rifles.
